Job Scope:

This position involves loading and unloading trucks and the safe operation of lift trucks. Other responsibilities include warehousing of products and supplies, housekeeping and other duties as assigned by management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for loading and unloading trucks • Assemble and check orders using warehouse management system • Service customers, receive shipments from suppliers • Record detailed shipping/receiving documentation • Rotate stock and conduct inventory cycle counts • Accurate record keeping of food safety and quality related data as outlined in SOPs & other training materials provided • Dispose of expired/damaged items as outlined in our SOP’s. • Provide excellent customer service for internal and external stakeholders • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

• Minimum high school diploma and/or related warehousing experience • Counter Balance, Electric Lift Truck and Reach Truck licenses • Good communication skills, including written and verbal • Ability to work as an individual and in a team environment • Ability to be flexible in terms of shift work • Physically capable of performing the demands of the job and ability to multi-task • Accurate when working with calculations • Experience with an automated Warehouse Management System • Excellent computer skills

Supply Chain Planner

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Supply Chain Planning Manager, this position is responsible for planning the volume of production at our Hamilton facility to meet our customers demand. Candidates for this full-time position are required with the following qualifications and will perform the duties listed below.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare production schedules for the manufacture of products by SKU.
  • Draw up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation.
  • Meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
  • Utilize production specifications and plant capacity data to plan require production volumes while maximizing efficiencies in the plants.
  • Communicate with the demand forecaster, customer service, distribution, sales and marketing staff and some customers to best determine customer’s demand and schedule production to meet the demand.
  • Utilize the Warehouse Management System to determine inventory levels, demand forecast, shelf life of product and shipping information to assist in the calculation of production volumes.
  • Manage inventory volumes to provide the best possible shelf life to our customers.
  • Confer with plant supervisors to determine status of production.
  • Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules accordingly to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Communicate production schedules to procurement and warehousing to ensure sufficient packaging and raw materials are available for future production.
  • (May) prepare purchase orders to obtain such products that are co-packaged by other manufactures for Gay Lea Foods.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience in production control, planning, inventory control and/or materials in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Post-secondary education with a Supply Chain focus or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in Supply Chain concepts (safety stock planning, MRP calculations, scheduling constraints and bottlenecks, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Excel).
  • Lean/Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with JDA software or Microsoft Dynamics AX are considered great assets.
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge status quo, influence and drive change and results.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to multitask and work to deadlines.
  • Highly developed analytical, quantitative and data analysis aptitude.

Working Environment:

Primarily sedentary in nature with regular interruptions and deadlines.

Logistics Coordinator

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, the Logistics Co-ordinator is responsible for dispatching, route planning, labor planning, and coordinating shipments with both own carrier base and 3pl within the Canadian network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Route plan and sequence calls for next day shipment requirements on Gay Lea asset base.
  • Communicate and tender sales orders to third party carriers going outside the geographical service region of own fleet.
  • Coordinate daily ad-hoc delivery requirements and backhauls.
  • Coordinate additional driver support as required through partnered service providers.
  • Coordinate equipment to and from maintenance.
  • Provide communicational status updates to internal and external stakeholders as requested on ETAs, delays for sales orders.
  • Ensure drivers are prepared for work with Log Books, Safety equipment, etc.
  • Responsible for incident and accident report/documentation.
  • Ensure all PODS are collected and accounted for, scanned into knowledge link.
  • Ensure all driver routing packets are prepared and assembled with the necessary documentation, bills, RMAS, pick up appointments etc.
  • Approve/Decline/Process demurrage charges with 3rd party carriers.
  • Monitor and report on driver/route KPI’s.
  • Document delays, and report on corrective actions for planning, systematic issues.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent Telephone/Communication/People skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong time management and priority allocation skills, urgency understanding.
  • Proficiency in Word/Excel
  • Exceptional keyboarding skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast paced environment.

This role supports the effective management of our corporate health, safety & environmental program, employee education, and H&S policy and procedure implementation. Working very collaboratively with your Operations, Supply Chain, and other department stakeholders to drive safety awareness within your span of influence, you possess the ability to juggle multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment in different locations, managing a high level of detail including Regulations compliance, claims management, and local WSIB administration. You have a safety-first mentality, understand the value of working as part of a team, and enjoy the challenge of a high-demand role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide site Health & Safety leadership
  • Attend and support site Joint Health and Safety Committees
  • Assist in the upkeep of the Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental compliance management system.

Reporting to the Vice President, Research, Development and Technology, this position is responsible for managing product innovation and development projects, and cost savings initiatives. The successful incumbent will partner closely with operations, sales, marketing and other functions across the business to provide technical knowledge needed to develop ingredient manufacturing and support the industrial sales strategies, new partnerships and effective utilization of ingredients within the Company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for delivering the development projects and activities including, optimization and cost reduction initiatives • Work closely with customers in developing solutions to fulfill their ingredient requirements • Generate and maintain raw material and finished product documentation, primarily focusing on dairy powder ingredients • Subject Matter Expert (SME) of manufacturing processes, ingredients and formulations • Design and conduct internal sensory evaluation tests, accurately analyze products as required and report results • Provide technical support and expertise relating to product quality • Collaborate and align with key stakeholders (i.e. Operations, Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain) • Work closely with the Sales (international and domestic) & Marketing teams on activities such as focus groups, new idea generation and evaluation of market trends • Partner with Procurement to align specification and quality of incoming ingredients • Travel approximately 25-30% (primarily within Ontario however some travel throughout Canada and North America)

Qualifications:

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the scope of the position involves the maintenance of all property and equipment at the facility including mechanical and electrical repairs. This position will maintain the life of the equipment, minimize downtime, and ensure the safe and efficient operations of the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance for all packaging and production equipment as well as services and utilities.
  • Maintain the life of the equipment and minimize downtime.
  • Repair all plant production equipment as required.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operations of the plant.
  • Communicate with the rest of the maintenance team and plant personnel when resolving problems.
  • Coordinate with al outside contractors and ensure that work is completed in a safe manner that complies with all manufacturing codes, regulations.
  • Identify opportunities and make recommendations to continuously improve maintenance operations and efficiencies.
  • Liaison with Maintenance Coordinator to help ensure parts are ordered, organized and stocked.
  • Other projects as assigned by management.
  • Attend prescribed courses and training as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years maintenance experience with in the food industry, preferably dairy.
  • Must possess an Ontario and/or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) – 433A license required.
  • Knowledge of GMP’s and HACCP.
  • Strong preventative maintenance and troubleshooting ability.
  • Solid knowledge of highspeed filling and packaging lines and PLC’s.
  • Refrigeration “B” license and boiler experience would be an asset.
  • Familiar with continuous improvement processes and methodologies would be an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of plumbing, welding and machining.
  • Good communication skills, including written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be flexible in terms of shift work and perform other duties as required.
  • Physically capable of performing the demands of the job.
  • Computer skills would be an asset.

Working Environment:

Regular exposure to noise, odour, chemical hazards, hazardous machines and frequent interruptions. Occasional exposure to dust and extreme temperatures.
