TORONTO, ONTARIO – April 2, 2026 – Gay Lea Foods Co-operative Limited (“Gay Lea Foods”) has initiated a voluntary recall of select cheese products supplied by its Paradise Island Foods facility in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
The voluntary recall was undertaken as a precautionary measure, due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
In most cases, the affected products were used for further processing, food service or distribution, and Gay Lea Foods has provided customers with instructions to recall these products from their final point of sale.
Four Paradise Island Foods-branded products and two Bothwell Cheese-branded products sold at retail are also included in the recall, the details of which can be found below. While there have been no reported illnesses, consumers are encouraged not to consume these products, to discard them, or return them to their place of purchase.
