Job Scope:

Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources and partnering with the leadership team, you will be responsible for diagnosing, designing, planning, and implementing a multi-year change management and organizational effectiveness plan to realize Gay Lea's ambition of sustainable, long-term growth in the Canadian dairy industry. As a key change agent, you will identify and build organizational capabilities through strategic high-quality change, talent, and culture programs (e.g., acquired company employee integration), including organization and role design, leadership and employee development, employee engagement, performance management, process improvement and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Your ability to optimize the organization, grow capabilities and foster a culture aligned with Gay Lea's principles and values will attract, develop, and retain talent to achieve its goals, which is the cornerstone of our co-op's success.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the strategic and operational requirements of the organization to craft appropriate strategies, roadmaps, and tools to help leaders effectively achieve their agendas.
  • Create a change and organizational effectiveness plan based on people insights and needs, including strategies and initiatives aligned with Gay Lea's strategic direction and values, to build leadership and employee capabilities, organizational capability (succession planning, career development, performance management, acquisition onboarding, etc.) and culture enablement to enable Gay Lea to achieve its objectives.
  • Design programs and create comprehensive project plans, including activities and tasks for all initiatives, aligned with operating timelines and capacities to deliver with excellence.
  • Champion a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace through collecting and incorporating input and feedback from employees gathered through surveys, workshops, and interviews.
  • Oversee all change and organizational effectiveness initiatives, including work effort, tasks, budgets, and measurements, to ensure effective implementation and realization of outcomes.
  • Lead the development of internal communication strategies to align leaders and employees and gain their buy-in and commitment to change, increasing participation, adoption, and usage of new approaches.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment activities to validate the progress and effectiveness of initiatives and adjust as needed.
  • Propose enhancements to programs based on benchmarks and best practices to ensure they align with and deliver targeted outcomes.
  • Create a measurement framework to track the outcomes of all initiatives.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to provide council and support to leaders and Human Resources Business Partners.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Post-secondary degree, or an equivalent combination of education or experience in organization development, change management, or human resources management.
  • Change management, human resources, process improvement, and learning and development designations or certifications are assets.
 Experience:
  • 10+ years of change management and organizational development experience.
  • Proven track record of implementing organizational development initiatives, including process improvement, employee engagement, workplace culture, learning and development and diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Manufacturing and business functions experience required.
  • Mergers and acquisitions experience is an asset.
  • Experience in the food industry is an asset.

Payroll Specialist

Payroll Specialist

Job Scope:

We are looking for a dynamic and highly experienced Payroll professional to join our Human Resources team. The ideal candidate has worked with high-volume payroll in an HCM systems driven environment. Reporting to the Manager, Payroll, the successful applicant will process payroll for 1000+ hourly and salaried employees, including union and non-union groups. In addition, the candidate will have a strong financial acumen to work closely with our Payroll Manager and finance team on payroll reporting, GL reconciliations and audits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of the bi-weekly full cycle payroll process for 1000+ employees using the Ceridian Dayforce HCM system, while maximizing efficiencies and ensuring data integrity
  • Update payroll related records within the system, including taxation, deductions/earnings set-up, group benefits premiums, etc.
  • Assist with the maintenance of various payroll schedules (maternity leave top-ups, salary continuance, STD payments, taxable benefits, etc.), prepare ROEs and other related tasks
  • Audit employee time and attendance hours worked for calculating or coding errors, coordinate resolutions and approvals with approving supervisors, HR business partners and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy of hourly pay data
  • Assist with the preparation of payroll remittances to various third-party payees such as CRA, WSIB, wage garnishments, payroll taxes, group benefits premiums, union dues, etc.
  • Assist with the reconciliation of statutory deductions and annual reports for CRA, CSST, EHT and WSIB, including reconciliations and issuance of year-end T4’s, T4A’s, and RL-1’s
  • Assist with the performance of all legislation changes while auditing risk to the company in reference to remittance thresholds such as WSIB and other statutory requirements`
  • Monitor and maintain processes and controls for payroll related activities and systems
  • Provide professional advice and service to internal clients such as HR colleagues, finance, operations staff, employees, as well as external contacts such as Service Canada, CNESST, CRA, Sun Life and others
  • Adhere to the terms of the Collective Agreement when dealing with unionized employees
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of payroll systems and keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes impacting payroll
  • Other duties and projects as required

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in handling high-volume payroll
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required
  • Post-secondary education with a focus in Administration and or Accounting preferred
  • Experience processing payroll in Ceridian Dayforce required
  • Experience with unionized and/or manufacturing hourly payroll environment preferred
  • Excellent computer skills are required, including advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Solid comprehension and understanding of payroll/timekeeping practices, employment legislation, CRA regulations and accounting principles

Maintenance Technician - Millwright

Maintenance Technician - Millwright

Status: Full time - Shift Details: 12 hour rotating continental

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Manager, Operations, the Maintenance Technician – Millwright is responsible for the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all equipment and machinery at the Teeswater facility including refrigeration, waste water systems, steam boiler, building maintenance and other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operation and maintenance of all refrigeration/boiler/HVAC equipment
  • Maintain/monitor/check all equipment
  • Participate in plant equipment repairs/installations
  • Interface with necessary contractual and inspection departments for adherence to regulatory and company requirements
  • Maintain all records to ensure regulatory and company compliance
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns relating to all boiler, refrigeration and HVAC issues
  • Ensure all work performed complies with governing practices, codes and regulations
  • Operation of all equipment in a safe and efficient manner as well as participation in plant efficiency initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years maintenance experience within the food industry, preferably in dairy
  • Knowledge of GMPs, including excellent sanitary habits and possess knowledge of HACCP
  • Strong preventative maintenance and troubleshooting ability
  • Solid knowledge of high speed filling and packaging lines and PLCs
  • Familiar with continuous improvement processes and methodologies considered an asset

Job Scope:

Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, the scope of this position involves all aspects of plant labour in a food production environment.

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Production Manager, the scope of the Production Supervisor involves leading your production team to achieve standards related to cost, line efficiencies, waste, safety, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the production staff, including planning workload and staffing schedules
  • Communicate with planning for effective and efficient scheduling of production
