Job Scope:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the scope of this position involves hands-on coordinating and managing the operations of the finished goods warehouse and coordinating raw materials, ensuring that HACCP regulations are followed, and exceptional customer service levels are maintained. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe, timely and accurate loading and unloading of transport trucks. Additionally, this person will organize, and schedule the Hewitt’s delivery drivers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Run warehouse operations, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and HACCP regulations
  • Supervision of warehouse staff and delivery drivers, coordinate and prioritize workflow, provide training, performance evaluation and disciplinary procedures
  • Responsible as a super user of the warehouse management system, ensuring traceability is maintained and inventories correct
  • Recommend and implement changes to improve processes and productivity to ensure warehouse and delivery runs in an accurate and efficient manner
  • Ensure warehouse facility is kept clean, all stock is maintained in an appropriate manner, good stock rotation practices are in place, and product is kept clean and damage free to ensure quality integrity
  • Manage the loading/unloading trucks and assembling orders
  • Completion and documentation of sanitation and HACCP related items
  • Ability to be flexible in terms of shift work and weekend work and perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education and/or minimum five (5) years relevant work experience in a lead hand or supervisory capacity.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, including excellent sanitary habits and knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) considered a strong asset.
  • Must have experience with Counter Balance, Electric Lift Truck and Reach Truck licenses.
  • Solid experience and working knowledge of an automated Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to work well with and through others.
  • Familiar with total quality management and continuous improvement processes.

Customs Compliance Specialist

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Director, Logistics & Procurement, the Customs Compliance Specialist will perform duties related to analyzing and assessing applicable HS classifications, examining invoices, manifests and supporting documents for conformity to tariffs and customs laws. The position will also entail requiring the booking of freight for all export related orders. The position will be the lead in preparing all necessary customs documentation for shipments of Gay Lea Foods imported/exported products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process required data/documentation on behalf of all Gay Lea Foods import / export shipments, including renewal registrations and tracking for expiration dates
  • Assess Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HS) classification; prepare Commercial Invoices
  • Prepare necessary Prior Notice – FDA for all shipments into the United States.
  • Effective administration of all import/export customs including Custom Duty documentation, C-TPAT & PIP (Canadian and US Federal Homeland Import Security)
  • Work with internal partners and customs brokers on assessing import/export ruling information and clearance requirements to ensure timely customs clearances
  • Obtain Customs documentation by contacting client/vendor/carrier when required
  • Interface with Canada Customs, customers and/or field offices to affect the timely and accurate release and acquittal of shipments
  • Coordinate the necessary Transportation by tendering loads for all export shipments. Sea/Rail/Over the road.
  • Assist Transportation Supervisor/Manager in any Regulatory matters.
  • Responsible for all prior notices and Customs invoice preparation

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Business or Commerce
  • 3 years of relevant Canadian Customs experience
  • Must have or working towards industry recognized certifications; Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) designations preferred
  • Established background in successfully importing / exporting finished goods and ingredients within Canada, USA, Europe and Asia
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Customs Tariff and other federal and provincial government department regulations

Job Scope:

  • Responsible for maintenance and operation of high-pressure steam boilers, building maintenance, manufacturing and packaging machines, air compressors and refrigeration and HVAC systems.

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Teeswater Trucking and Milk Hauling, this position is responsible for transporting milk to other Gay Lea facilities or other destinations. Candidates are required with the following qualifications and will perform the duties listed below.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on equipment
  • Maintain an up to date and accurate log book
  • Transport milk in a safe and efficient manner to other Gay Lea facilities and other destinations
  • Available to work on a rotating 24/7 schedule

Qualifications:

  • Minimum grade 12 education and/or relevant dairy experience
  • AZ license with clean driving abstract
  • Familiarity with GMP's
  • Bulk tank milk grader certification preferred
  • An excellent team player, flexibility and good verbal and written communication skills

Working Environment:

Regular exposure to long duration on road and frequent interruptions. Majority of work completed during night hours. Occasional exposure to dust and extreme temperatures.

Physical Demands:

Sitting for extended length of time, standing and walking for considerable length of time. Moderate lifting of materials up to maximum 25 kg.

Ghee Processing Operator

Status: Contract – full-time hours (8-10 hour days) (Shift: Afternoons/nights (rotating) shifts)

Job Scope:

Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, the scope of this position involves all aspects of plant labour in a food production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and complete automated Clean In Place (CIP) washes, as well as manual cleaning of equipment and environmental cleaning
  • Complete and document Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) related items
  • Record detailed production and Clean In Place (CIP) reports
  • Food Safety & Quality responsibility as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) & other training materials provided and accurate record keeping
  • Attend prescribed courses and training as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma and/or relevant food processing experience
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), including excellent sanitary habits and possess knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)
  • Good communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Ability to be flexible in terms of shift work and perform other duties as required
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Physically capable of performing the demands of the job and ability to multi-task
  • Computer skills would be an asset
  • Mechanical aptitude and trouble shooting ability.

Working Environment:

Extended exposure to extreme temperatures and multiple deadlines. Frequent exposure to hazards including chemical substances, hazardous machines and moving objects. Regular exposure to noise and odour.

Physical Demands:

Standing and walking, for extended length of time. Crouching, climbing stairs and working in awkward positions for considerable length of time. Occasional lifting of materials to a maximum weight of 25 kg.
