Gay Lea Foods provides update on fire at Bothwell Cheese

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, June 1, 2024 – On the morning of Saturday, June 1, a fire broke out at the Bothwell Cheese production facility in New Bothwell, Manitoba.

All employees safely exited the building, and no injuries were reported.  Emergency services responded and extinguished the fire and have remained on scene to continue monitoring the situation.

All of us at Gay Lea Foods and Bothwell Cheese are grateful for the skill and bravery of first responders who attended the facility and brought the fire under control.

While the extent of the damage is not yet known, the Bothwell Cheese production facility is currently closed, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
