It’s official. Gay Lea has confirmed its commitment to recognition as a “blue ribbon” organization when it comes to community giving.
At the beginning of fiscal 2011, this recognition was included on our list of objectives for the year. We know we are generous in our giving and wanted to make sure we were in line with other Canadian companies.
And so, to reach this objective, we have joined the ranks of Imagine Canada.
Imagine Canada is a national charitable organization whose cause is Canada’s charities and nonprofits. They support and strengthen charities and nonprofits so they can, in turn, support the Canadians and communities they serve. At the same time, they offer programs to assist donor companies in setting targets and ensuring their donation goals reach legitimate and effective charities.
With our commitment, we have become a member of Imagine Canada’s Caring Company program. The criteria for membership includes a commitment to giving 1% of pre-tax profits.
This will come easy to Gay Lea Foods. Between cash and product donations, curling and team sponsorships, and support for non-profit organizations, our corporate giving plans already place us in good stead for reaching our target.
We are in good company – the Caring Company list includes major banks and financial institutions, utility companies, and well-known retailers. We are pleased to be taking this next step in corporate giving.
