Cheddar Walnut Bread

This easy to make bread is a year round favourite and is great to serve during the holidays.

Ingredients:

2 cupsall purpose flour500 mL
2/3 cupsugar150 mL
1 tbspbaking powder15 mL
3/4 tspsalt4 mL
1beaten egg
1 cupmilk250 mL
1/4 cupmelted butter50 mL
1-1/2 cupsshredded Sharp Canadian Cheddar375 mL
1-1/2 cupstoasted walnut pieces375 mL
Additional Sharp Canadian Cheddar, to garnish



Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
 
In another bowl, combine beaten egg, milk and melted butter. Add to flour mixture and stir just until moistened.
 
Fold in Sharp Canadian Cheddar and toasted walnut pieces. Turn butter into buttered 9x5x3-inch (2L) loaf pan or 3 (2-cup/500mL) mini loaf pans.
 
Bake in 350F (180C) oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until done. Sprinkle with addtional Sharp Canadian Cheddar. Cool 10 minutes in pan; turn out and cool completely.
