Sweet Sensation
Savoury Grilled Crostini
Top these creamy appetizers with sliced strawberries for a sweet sensation.
Preparation Time:
20 Minutes
Ingredients:
| 1 cup | Nordica Cottage Cheese (1% or 2%) | 250 mL |
| 1/3 cup | crumbled blue cheese | 75 mL |
| 3 tbsp | chopped toasted walnuts (optional) | 45 mL |
| 2 tbsp | chopped fresh parsley | 25 mL |
| 1 tbsp | chopped fresh basil | 15 mL |
| 1 | small clove garlic, minced | |
| Pinch each salt and pepper | ||
| Half baguette, thinly sliced | ||
| 3/4 cup | thinly sliced Ontario strawberries | 175 mL |
Instructions:
In bowl, stir together cottage and blue cheeses. Add the next 5 ingredients and stir well. Spread mixture evenly amoung baguette slices. Top with strawberries. Place on greased grill over medium heat; close lid and grill for about 5 minutes or until baguette is toasted and cheese is warm.
Makes about 20 pieces.
Gay Lea French Onion Dip Option:
Omit cottage and blue cheeses and use 1/2 cup (125mL) GAY LEA French Onion Dip and 1/2 cup (125mL) shredded Old Cheddar cheese.
Pecan Option: Omit walnuts and use pecans.
Tip: If basil is not available, use parsley.
Mixture can be made up to 1 day ahead; cover and refrigerate.
