Shannon's Health Tips

Spring Clean Your Snacking Routine.

TIP: If you’ve been munching on comfort foods over the winter, it’s time to spring clean your snacking routine!

Smart snacking is key to healthy eating. When choosing snacks, go for wholesome, green and light!

Go Wholesome. Stock up on basic, wholesome foods, such as hard-boiled eggs, veggies and fruit, cheese, cottage cheese, bean dips, nuts and seeds. Clear your kitchen of over-processed, packaged snack foods and treats – especially ones loaded with sugar.

Go Green. Find ways to add a little more green to your snack routine. Nibble on edamame, green beans or snap peas. Keep frozen greens on hand to add to dips or whirl into smoothies, like this apple and kale smoothie

Go Light. Go for small snacking sizes – about 200 calories (or less). That’s ½ cup cottage cheese with ½ cup defrosted frozen raspberries or a small apple sliced and topped with 1 tbsp of almond or peanut butter.
