Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Contracts Specialist

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Procurement & Contracts Specialist will coordinate, maintain, and manage the procurement category of packaging as their primary focus. The ideal candidate will also conduct RFP’s, RFQ’s, and RFI’s, lead projects correlating to packaging innovation and cost savings, as key focuses. The Procurement & Contracts Specialist will be responsible for maintaining vendor contract relationships as well as ensuring risk managing supply sustainability. If you have strong due diligence skills, are a champion for relationship building, and have a high-level focus on quality and analytics, this may be the role for you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage contracts and service level agreements for the procurement of goods, and services correlating to packaging needs.
  • Serve as the primary contact internally/externally for assigned category management.
  • Support the management of the Non-Conformance Review issue resolution for all Gay Lea Foods facilities, including but not limited to providing closure, cost avoidance, and recouping of non-conformance funds through supplier negotiation (Cost Avoidance).
  • Identify opportunities for operational and procurement process improvement.
  • Act as the new item set up liaison.
  • Set up new vendors.
  • Invoice resolution with vendors against price discrepancies within trade agreements.
  • Provide analytical support with reports, administration, and project management.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education and/or minimum three (3) years relevant work experience in the supply chain procurement field.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics knowledge considered an asset).
  • Completed education or courses pertaining to purchasing considered an asset (CSCMP / PMAC).
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, including written and verbal.

Milk Receiver / Blender Operator

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the scope of this licenced position involves handling, receiving, unloading milk, skim, cream and liquid sugar shipments. This position as well has responsibility for blending of products per formulations. Attention to detail is a must.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate manual and automated equipment through control panels
  • Conduct Clean in Place (CIP / COP) and sanitize the tanks, silos and line circuits including cleaning & housekeeping of the milk receiving and blending area
  • Maintain detailed receiving, blending and CIP logs and D-365 logs (all DAX related activities)
  • Perform routine manual checks of systems, valves, lines and troubleshoot as required
  • Conduct visual inspection of incoming bulk tankers to ensure they are clean and free of debris that may cause contamination. Follow all protocols as trained in your Milk & Cream Graders Certification Program.
  • Conduct all QC testing of incoming products and blends as per SOP
  • Calculate & blend product according to formulations and complete necessary documentation
  • Receive, unload, record milk, skim milk, cream and liquid sugar shipments

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician – Electrician is responsible for the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all equipment and machinery at the Teeswater facility including refrigeration, waste water systems, steam boiler, building maintenance and other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Manager, the scope of this position involves directing and overseeing the daily operations of the Teeswater bulk hauling and farm pick-up activities. The incumbent will schedule staff and routes to accordance with demand for delivery of product to inter-company and external customers. This role is also responsible for identifying and implementing transportation efficiency initiatives to improve performance related to sustainability, cost and other strategic directives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to perform day to day scheduling of interplant shipments; Adapting to last minute changes including the addition and cancelation of loads
  • Scheduling drivers and routes for bovine and goat milk pick-up in accordance with Ministry of Transportation limits, DFO, OMTA and Dairy Goat hauling protocols
  • Manage budget and report on all transportation costs; Monitor and plan daily activities maximizing efficiency and cost-effective practices; Identify and execute cost-saving project opportunities
  • Promote safe work activities, both at the shop and on the road, by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings and meeting with individual staff members
  • Manage bi-weekly payroll for all drivers including scheduling, timesheet authorization and vacation planning

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise and bridge daily communication in French and English, between internal departments (Sales, Supply Chain and Finance) and external partners in operational matters to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.
  • Manage all orders within your client portfolio and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Provide support to Key Account team members as required.
  • Proactively resolve issues that threaten service levels.
  • Ensure and exhibit a professional attitude and demeanour to all who contact the company.
  • Issue return merchandise authorization numbers and/or return of products (credit processing) to eligible customers.
  • Respond to consumer enquiries as back-up to the consumer relations team, and complete associated tasks, including forwarding complaints with proper documentation to the respective Quality Control Supervisor, for their investigation and written response within 24 hours, making necessary arrangements to pick up complaint products for analysis.
  • Food Safety and Quality responsibility as outlined in SOPs and other training materials provided and accurate record keeping.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent English and French verbal and written communication.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant Customer Service experience, in a fast-paced, Consumer Goods (CG) environment.
  • Post-secondary education completed.
  • Previous experience in the Food Processing Industry is a strong asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and excel in a team environment.
  • Self-starter and team player with strong interpersonal skills and flexibility.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated excellent Telephone/Communication/People skills, both written and verbal.
  • Previous experience with an ERP system is an asset.
  • Proven ability to exercise diplomacy and sound judgment in stressful situations.

Working Environment:

Work is primarily sedentary in nature, with frequent interruptions and multiple deadlines.

Job Scope:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, Teeswater, the scope of this position involves the responsibility of safe and efficient operation and electromechanical repairs of all plant equipment, as well as the maintenance of the plant infrastructure. This position is responsible for leading and supporting the maintenance staff with a special focus on continuously improving processes and efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and lead the Maintenance team in scheduling, preventative maintenance and the safe and efficient operation and repair of all plant production equipment (processing, packaging, office)
  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of all utilities (Steam Boilers, refrigeration, cooling tower, air compressors, HVAC, etc)
  • Improve and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance systems
  • Identify opportunities and make recommendations to continuously improve maintenance operations and efficiencies
  • Set and enforce work performance and operating standards for all employees and supervisors; provide training and development to maximize productivity and enhance proficiency
  • Promote a strong sense of teamwork and a culture of respect by working together safely, effectively, and efficiently with all employees to maintain a productive and participatory environment
  • Advocates and supports a culture of safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall safety at Gay Lea Foods through safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
  • Oversee Capital Projects assigned by Operations Manager & provide technical expertise and support to our Corporate Engineering Team
  • Establish various management tools to improve cost management
  • Assume responsibility for the approval and payment of charges related to maintenance and capital expenditures
  • Collaborate with Finance and Sr. Leadership in the development and administration of the budget

Qualifications:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in mechanical or engineering technology (diploma or degree), program
  • Certificate of Qualification as a Millwright and/or Electrician license
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ supervisory/management position; preferably within the dairy industry
  • Proven, hands on success with preventative and predictive maintenance systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including PLC programming
  • Progressive approach to maintenance and process improvement driven
  • Computer skills – experience with MP2, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Must have a good understanding of the scheduling requirements for the production departments, and to be able to co-ordinate the maintenance and repair activities
  • Ability to prioritize, plan and schedule work effectively with a production team in a fast paced and values driven environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and on-call
