Nobody knows for sure why some people get osteoporosis and others do not, but many factors may play a role. Some factors you can change, while others you cannot.
Eating a well-balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, and taking part in daily physical activity are among the best early measures you can take to prevent osteoporosis.
